Pet Diagnostic Laboratory

Our state-of-the-art in-house diagnostic lab is one of the keys to providing excellent care to every pet that comes to Muddy Creek Animal Hospital.

Pet Diagnostic Laboratory

We are able to use results from various advanced diagnostic tests to offer the best care possible for your pet for numerous health concerns.

Our internal lab at Muddy Creek Animal Hospital enables us to diagnose issues and start therapy for your pet more quickly than ever. We can run everything from routine blood tests, fecal and urinary analysis, and microscopic cytology to more extensive tests to aid in diagnosing a more urgent illness when your pet is feeling under the weather.

Tests such as a complete blood count (CBC) can be performed in less than 20 minutes. This assesses the quantity and quality of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. A CBC can assist in identifying if your pet is dehydrated, anemic (insufficient red blood cells), or suffering from an illness. We can also quickly run blood tests for critical organs such as the kidneys, liver, thyroid, electrolytes, blood protein, blood sugar, and pancreatic function. By enhancing the testing choices available to all of our patients, our veterinary care team can better meet your pet’s needs by having immediate access to accurate in-house diagnostic findings. This also enables speedy and effective pre-anesthetic blood test screening for patients before surgery.

We additionally work with external laboratories at Antech, Idexx, and various university diagnostic labs that enable us to send out further diagnostic tests such as pathology, biopsy, cultures, and other blood panels. By having access to a wide range of diagnostic tools both in-house and externally, our veterinarians are able to choose which test would be the most effective for your pet to ensure the best care possible for them when they aren’t feeling well.
